Races we organise

We organise 2 main races, the Porthkerry Five and the Cosmeston Relays each year which are well respected on the local running calendar. Our members are well known for their enthusiastic marshalling and giving participants as much support as possible. See below.

2011 Results

The first Porthkerry Plod took place in April 2006 and has become just as successful and respected as the Cosmeston Relays.

Set in Porthkerry Country Park in Barry this is a 5 mile multi-terrain race with stunning views of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast and depending on the weather, its fair share of mud.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Penarth & Dinas Runners nominated charities for 2012, Thrive and CAVRA

The Cosmeston Relays takes place in July each year and has been running since 1991. In 2006, over 70 teams took part in the event from running clubs to “fun” runners. The event takes place in the picturesque Cosmeston Lakes Country Park.

Teams of 3 and 4 runners take part. Each member of the team runs 3 miles in a tag-style relay. The course is well signed and marshalled and no-one goes home until everyone has finished – the last runner usually gets the biggest cheer! And afterwards, we all retire to Penarth Athletic and Rugby Club to present prizes, have a well earned drink and swap experiences!
