Races that we organise

We organise 2 main races each year that are well respected on the local running calendar. Our members are well known for their enthusiastic marshalling to give the participants as much support as possible.

Cosmeston Relays

The Cosmeston Relays takes place in July each year and has been running since 1991.

In 2006, over 70 teams took part in the event from running clubs to “fun” runners. The event takes place in the picturesque Cosmeston Lakes Country Park.

Teams of 3 and 4 runners take part. Each member of the team runs 3 miles in a tag-style relay. The course is well signed and marshalled and no-one goes home until everyone has finished – the last runner usually gets the biggest cheer! And afterwards, we all retire to Penarth Athletic and Rugby Club to present prizes, have a well earned drink and swap experiences!

The date for the 2008 race is Wednesday 9th July 2008 at 7.00 pm - for entry form please email request to the following: stuart.jones@capita.co.uk or telephone: 02920702028

Porthkerry Plod

In April 2006, the first Porthkerry Plod took place and has the potential to be just as successful and respected as the Cosmeston Relays.

Set in Porthkerry Country Park in Barry this is a 5 mile multi-terrain race with stunning views of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast and depending on the weather its fair share of mud.

The date for the 2008 race is Sunday 27th April 2008.
